Dahlia RepoleFormer Principal of St. Andrew High School for Girls and more recently Excelsior Community College, Dr. Dahlia Repole CD, JP, retired public servant who has given over forty years of selfless dedicated service to the field of education, has made public, her diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer.

Many persons suffer alone and in the dark with Cancer, but Dr. Repole has dared to be different. “People need to be more aware of the risk factors associated with Pancreatic Cancer” says Dr. Repole. “If my fight with this disease can benefit others, why should I keep it a secret? To help another person makes all of this worth it.”

Digicel To Donate US$3 Million Worth of Tents to Shelter More Than 100,000 Haitians

Digicel today announced details of its plans to purchase and distribute 19,000 six-man tents -- valued at US$3 million -- to provide shelter to more than 100,000 Haitians who are living in makeshift campsites following the January 12th earthquake which devastated Port-au-Prince and its surrounding areas.

The tents -- which are designed for extended living in wilderness conditions -- have a 10x10 foot coated polyethylene 'bathtub' floor which is separate from the tent walls and gives protection from groundwater. The tents -- purchased from a manufacturer in the US -- are being shipped to Port-au-Prince from Bangladesh on 14x40 foot containers and are scheduled to arrive in Port-au-Prince at the end of March.

Hannah Town Community Centre Could be Instrument of Transformation - PM Golding

Prime Minister Bruce Golding told residents of Hannah Town community that the re-established community development centre could be an instrument of transformation if they utilize it to its highest potential.

The Prime Minister who gave the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the development centre on Thursday (February 18) said the centre represents a transition from a bitter past to a brighter future.
